At Seventh Hill, we have introduced our lineup of exceptional delta 8 THC products, including our top-selling 2:1 Caramels.  These caramels contain a 2:1 ratio of CBD to delta 8 THC for a more balanced type of delta 8 experience, while retaining all of the other unique compounds in the hemp plant, including terpenes, nutrients and more.

Delta 8 THC is still pretty new to the hemp market, and it is quite understandable that many of our customers are not sure as to whether or not they can legally take the compound.  That is why we will be explaining why our caramels are completely legal according to federal law, in order to then have you feel comfortable about incorporating them into your routine.

What are Seventh Hill 2:1 Caramels?

Our 2:1 Caramels are a type of edible that contains a 2:1 ratio of CBD (cannabidiol) to delta 8 THC (delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol).  Delta 8 is a new addition to the market, being an isolated minor cannabinoid in hemp that has been concentrated to give us the full extent of its unique effects.  Delta-8 is most notable for its mild intoxicating properties, as the compound is derived from degraded delta 9 THC, the dominant compound in marijuana.  While there is only about 0.1% of delta8 in hemp naturally, we have extracted and concentrated it so that you can truly feel what it has to offer.

These caramels allow you to ingest the two cannabinoids, along with other hemp compounds as these compounds are full spectrum hemp products.  They provide effects that can last for several hours due to the nature of edibles, and they come in a wide array of strains, categorized by the general effects that each strain provides.

Each 2:1 Caramel contains 20 milligrams of cannabidiol and 10 milligrams of delta 8 THC.  This amount is great for beginners and experienced users alike, as 10 milligrams is considered a good standard dose of delta 8.

Is Delta 8 THC a Legal Compound?

Because delta 8 THC is so closely related to delta 9 THC, and because it’s psychoactive at the end of the day, it is natural that people are afraid to try it out of fear of getting into trouble with the law.  It is worth pointing out that delta 8 is about 70% as intoxicating as delta 9, and so its effects are milder.

Also, delta 8 THC is fully legal under federal law.  This is because of the Farm Bill, which was passed by Congress in 2018.  The Farm Bill declared the hemp plant fully legal, thus declassifying it from the list of controlled substances.  Once upon a time, all cannabis was deemed illegal, meaning that hemp and marijuana were lumped into the same category.  Now, hemp is recognized as a legal plant while marijuana remains federally illegal, despite recent legalization in a number of states.

The Farm Bill clearly states that hemp and its derivatives, including specific cannabinoids, are protected under federal law.  The one restriction is that no hemp product can contain more than 0.3% delta 9 THC, which is not the same as delta 8 THC.  At Seventh Hill, all of our hemp products contain a legal amount of delta 9.

States That Have Outlawed Delta 8 THC

While delta 8 THC is a federally legal cannabinoid, a small number of states have banned it since the Farm Bill was first passed:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Rhode Island
  • Utah

This means that in these states, you can get into trouble for carrying delta 8 THC in any form.  Furthermore, we cannot legally ship delta 8 to residents or businesses of these states.

Delta 8 THC and Drug Tests

Be mindful of the fact that while delta 8 THC is legal federally, it may still yield a positive on a drug test.  Standard urine tests given by employers are checking for a specific enzyme that is produced when we consume THC, which is THC-COOH.  This is the enzyme that shows up in urine samples and causes us to fail a drug test.  There’s good reason to believe that because delta 8 and delta 9 are so similar, that delta 8 also yields the release of this enzyme, thus meaning that you could fail a drug test.

Therefore, if you’re going to be tested in the near future, you should consider abstaining from our 2:1 Caramels, and all delta 8 products, until after you have been tested.

Proud to Push the Limits of What a CBD Product Can Be While Still Being Completely Legally Compliant
