How 2:1 CBD:THC Caramels are Completely Legal

November 3, 2021

At Seventh Hill, we have introduced our lineup of hemp derived Delta 9 THC products, including our top-selling 2:1 Caramels.  These caramels contain a 2:1 ratio of CBD to Delta 9 THC for a more potent type of Delta 9 experience; because let’s be honest- we could all use a good buzz here n there.

Delta 9 THC is legal as long as it was derived from hemp and the final product contains less than .3% Delta 9 THC by weight. But our caramels are quite heavy and we can pack a bit into them- so that’s exactly what we did.

What are Seventh Hill 2:1 Caramels?

Our Caramels are all about finding the proper ratio of CBD to THC. We have found that this 2:1 ratio is great for experiencing the euphoria that Delta 9 THC can bring without risking the anxiety that can come for some with THC use. This is because the CBD acts as a balancing tool that negates some of those undesirable effects. We have many different terpene profiles available within the 2:1 caramel (Rise, Inspire, Unwind) that allows you to further customize your cannabis experience. They are even available in an Extra Strength + vegan variation here. Check out our other blog posts on our terpene profiles for more information here.

Our 2:1 caramels allow you to consume these two  cannabinoids at high potencies, along with other hemp compounds which, makes the buzz incomparable to the CBD gummies out there made purely of isolate.  They provide effects that can last for several hours due to the nature of edibles, and they come in a wide array of strains, categorized by the general effects that each strain provides.

Each 2:1 Caramel contains 20 milligrams of cannabidiol and 10 milligrams of delta 9 THC. This amount is great for beginners and experienced users alike, as 10 milligrams is considered a good standard dose of delta 9 THC. But if you’re looking for something even stronger, our Extra Strength variant has twice that much! If you have experience with cannabis (aka weed) then go ahead and eat the whole thing. But for our newbies out there we recommend starting with half and waiting at least an hour before eating the second half.

Is Delta 9 THC a Legal Compound?

Delta 9 THC is legal as long as it checks two boxes.

It must be derived from registered hemp that was grown in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill.

The final product must be below .3% Delta 9 THC

Our caramels meet both these criteria. They do contain 10mg of THC which may sound like a lot, and it is. But this dose is completely legal since 10mg is less than .1% of our caramels weight.

Some quick math for you.

Our 2:1 Caramels contain .06% Delta 9 THC (five times below the legal limit). That equals out to .6 mg per gram of caramel. if you multiply .6mg by 18  you get  10.8 mg of Delta 9 THC.

But if you think about in terms of lets say a 500mg full spectrum tincture, that tincture will contain around 30-40mg of delta 9 THC (which is again, well below that .3% threshold).

The reason you would not get the same effect from said oil is that there is so much more CBD than THC which is counteracting any psychoactive effects of the THC. It also is meant to be taken in multiple doses. Oils are also processed by our bodies differently than an edible made with infused butter due to the high fatty content of butter.

We hope this explains how we make these caramels, and how they are 100% legal under current laws.
